The theme of Week 6 was “Your Work Represents You (Preparing for the Ceremony)”.  This week, the PB interns started off by coming into work early to get a head start on making corrections to their Closing Ceremony presentation. After putting in many hours of hard work, the presentation was finally coming together.  On August 3, 2010, it was time to show the presentation to their family, friends and guests.   Mr. Ralgin T. Wells, MTA Administrator, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was a great success and it reflected all of the experiences and hard work the interns put into the Internship Program during the past six weeks.

On August 5, 2010, the interns participated in a Community Outreach Event sponsored by MTA to promote community awareness about the Red Line. Throughout the day, the interns spoke to different people in the Woodlawn community about the Red Line Project. Finally on August 6, 2010, the interns took a trip to the Baltimore Streetcar Museum were they met with the interns from the other firms and were given a tour of the Museum.  The interns really enjoyed riding the historic streetcars!  After the tour, the interns had a cookout and reflected on their different experiences while being a part of the Internship Program.

RK&K | Week 6 | Aug 3-Aug 6

RKK

The week began early, with our week beginning on Monday to give us more time to prepare for our presentation. We spent the week in the office and worked on our PowerPoint for our closing ceremony at Edmondson-Westside High School on Wednesday, April 4, 2010. We prepared for our speaking parts by writing what we would say and then used index cards to help us prepare. We began to practice and It was a little rough in the beginning, but after continuing to practice we all became comfortable with our roles. Eventually, we began to memorize what we would say and did not need our notes or index cards. On the night of the closing ceremony presentation, we were nervous, but it went very well and we received praise from many people such as Principal Lowe-Gould and Mr. Michael Thomas from the Baltimore City Schools.  The day after the presentation we discussed how it went and then wrote a summary of our six-week experience. Thursday was a sad day because we had only one more day in the internship and we did not want it to end. We capped off the week with a cook out at the Baltimore Trolley Museum where we got to take a ride on streetcars that were built over a hundred years ago.  This was a great experience and we learned a lot from the many places we visited and the people that we met.
